Turn the Page Comics: Creative Support for Young People from Comics Youth CIC

Free one-to-one sessions using comics and art to improve wellbeing

Charities, community groups and faith organisations often work closely with young people who are struggling with their mental health. A new project from Comics Youth, called Turn the Page Comics, could be a valuable opportunity to share with the young people you support.

The project offers free, creative one-to-one sessions for young people aged 16–25 across Merseyside who are experiencing anxiety or depression. On some occasions, slightly younger participants have also been welcomed if the project is a good fit.

What the project offers

Turn the Page Comics uses comics, drawing, writing and zine-making to help young people explore their creativity while improving wellbeing. Participants receive:

  • Eight weekly sessions (around 60 minutes each, though these can be shorter if needed)

  • One-to-one support with a facilitator, either in person at Make Hamilton in Birkenhead or online

  • A safe, person-centred space to build confidence and try new activities

  • The option to create a comic that could be published in the next Turn the Page book

Why this matters for your community

These sessions are about giving young people the tools and space to express themselves, build resilience and experience the therapeutic benefits of creativity. For some, this could be a first step in managing mental health challenges and feeling more connected.

Spread the word

If your organisation works with young people, please consider sharing this opportunity with your networks. For more information about Turn the Page Comics and how to get involved, see the poster below or visit Comics Youth CIC.
