A free, weekly space offering understanding, peer support and gentle tools for adults struggling with food and body-related challenges
A new Disordered Eating Support Group has recently launched at Open Door Charity. Disordered eating can be difficult to live with, and it doesn’t always look the same for everyone. For many people, it may not fit neatly into a diagnosis, yet still has a significant impact on daily life.
Some experiences people may recognise include:
Feeling exhausted by constant thoughts about food
Having a complicated or confusing relationship with eating
Food taking up more mental space than you’d like
Wondering, “Why is this so hard for me?”
Having “good” and “bad” days related to eating
Exercise feeling mandatory rather than optional
Wanting to rest, but struggling to allow yourself to do so
If any of these resonate — either for you or someone you know — this group may offer a supportive place to start. The Disordered Eating Support Group is free to attend and provides a safe, non-judgemental space where adults can feel listened to, connect with others who have similar experiences and learn gentle skills and tools that may help ease some of the challenges around food and body image.
There is no pressure to share, and participants are welcome to attend at their own pace. The group is open to anyone aged 18 and over, and no diagnosis is required.
