Wallasey Churches Community Asset Project and Energy Project Plus have teamed up to put on free affordable warmth training open to anyone in the sector. As we hit the colder winter months Energy Project Plus are keen to highlight every possible resource they have to support organisations making people warm. Here is an outline of the first of 2 sessions.
Introduction to Affordable Warmth: Free Training for Those Supporting Households at Risk of Fuel Poverty
Wednesday 14th January (In Person) – 10am – 11.30am
Make Hamilton, 69-71 Argyle St, Birkenhead CH41 6LQ
Tuesday 20th January (Online) - 7pm – 8.30pm
Fuel poverty remains a serious challenge in our region. In the North West alone, over 465,000 households are living in fuel poverty. In 2022 cold homes contributed to over 4,000 excess winter deaths in England and Wales – more than double the number of people killed on the roads that year (1,543).
Everyone deserves a warm, affordable, energy-efficient home. Our Charity helps residents save energy, reduce bills and improve comfort with free advice, home visits, and hands-on practical support.
But we can’t do this alone. We know that community workers support many more people at risk. They are often in the best position to spot when someone might be struggling and to help them access support.
That’s where our Introduction to Affordable Warmth training comes in. This short interactive session will empower you to talk about energy with the individuals and families you support, recognise the signs of fuel poverty, share simple energy-saving tips, and know exactly where and how to refer people for further help and support.
Session Outline:
· What is fuel poverty?
· The key routes to affordable warmth
· Top 4 energy-saving tips
· How Energy Projects Plus can help
· Energy Projects Plus simple referral process
· Your questions answered
