Reporting on the collaborative efforts to support Wirral's unpaid carers
As Volunteer Co-ordinator at Wirral CVS, I popped along to the Wirral Carers Alliance’s Commitment to Carers Conference at Eureka! in Wallasey to see what was happening, listen to the conversations in the room and find out more about how local organisations are working together to support unpaid carers across Wirral.

The event focused on building carer friendly communities and brought together carers, support services, healthcare teams and community organisations for a full day of discussion, information sharing and connection. It was clear throughout the day that there is real commitment on Wirral to making sure unpaid carers feel recognised, included and better supported.
It was great to see a range of organisations connected to the conference. Public information about the event also highlighted support and engagement from local services and organisations such as Wired, The Positivitree, Autism Together, Spider Project and Koala North West during Carers Week, to name just a few, which added to the sense of a wider borough-wide effort to support carers.
From my point of view, one of the most valuable things about the conference was seeing how many different people and services are trying to create spaces where carers can get practical help, speak honestly about their experiences, and feel less alone. Events like this matter because carers are often juggling so much behind the scenes, and having opportunities to connect with support in one place can make a real difference.
For me, visiting the event was a useful reminder of how important partnership working is when we want to build stronger, more inclusive communities. It was so encouraging to see the energy around supporting carers and to think about how volunteering, community support and local collaboration can all play a part in that picture.
Visit the Wirral Carers Alliance website to learn more about how they support carers all year round through other events, peer support and providing resources.
