On Friday, I attended the Liverpool City Region Digital Inclusion Network at Mann Island focused on all aspects of Digital Inclusion. The morning began with a panel discussion 'No One Left Behind: Tackling Digital Exclusion Across the Liverpool City Region'. After a short break, we moved downstairs to look at the new Helping You online campaign and draft booklet, among other things. Finally we wandered around all the stalls showcasing 20 different departments from the Combined Authority and left with a goody bag.
While I was there, I got to meet some old friends: Piara, Steve who has recently changed organisations, Chris and Stu. Some of the innovative work that was showcased included:
Knowsley Council have created their own local Digital Inclusion network creating a local steering group to tap into opportunities like the national databanks / device banks and the Lloyds banking initiative.
Sefton Library are changing the space to accommodate more digital activity like soundproofing booths, laptop spaces, free Wi-Fi and free access to computers.
Liverpool Council have as part of their social value, asked suppliers to donate digital devices as part of their tenders, allowing devices to be recycled which fits in completely with the new government charter around recycling computer equipment.
Halton has an NHS Digital Inclusion team that support people to access the NHS app.
