HMRC Voluntary and Community Sector Grants

HM Revenue and Customs is offering £11 million in grant funding for voluntary, community and nonprofit organisations to support people who need extra help engaging with HMRC services from April 2027 to March 2030.

The funding is intended to help unrepresented customers resolve tax-related issues, build confidence and return to mainstream HMRC channels.

The programme is open to registered charities, voluntary and community sector organisations, social enterprises, mutuals and co-operatives. Eligible applicants must have at least three years of financial history, annual turnover of at least £80,000 and financial systems capable of tracking grant spending.

The funding is aimed at organisations serving people with barriers such as low digital confidence, disabilities, mental health conditions, language barriers, bereavement, domestic or economic abuse, or other circumstances that make them harder to reach.

Grants will range from £40,000 to £1 million per year, capped at 50% of an organisation’s turnover based on its latest audited accounts. HMRC will hold live Q&A sessions for interested applicants June 11th and June 17th, 2026.

Applications must be submitted through the government’s Find a Grant system.

Current deadline: 3rd July 2026

The Leeds Building Society Charitable Foundation

Small and medium-sized charities across the UK can apply for funding from the Leeds Building Society Charitable Foundation to support people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.

The Foundation offers Small Grants of up to £2,500 to UK-registered charities with an annual income under £500,000 for core, project or capital costs.

In addition, Large Grants of up to £75,000 are available to charities with an income of £1 million or less, based in Yorkshire or the North East, and are typically awarded over two to three years to support running costs, staffing, and service delivery.

Funding prioritises projects that help people access or sustain a safe and secure home, including support with financial hardship, housing access, tenancy sustainment, and health and wellbeing linked to poor housing. Previously funded projects have included homelessness prevention services, supported accommodation schemes, and initiatives providing essential household items for vulnerable individuals.

Applications are considered across several funding rounds each year. Decisions are usually made within around eight weeks. The large grant scheme is currently closed until Summer 2026.

Current deadline: 7th September 2026

The National Lottery's Reaching Communities England Programme

Community based organisations are invited to apply for funding through the National Lottery’s Reaching Communities England programme.

The programme supports projects that strengthen communities and improve lives across England. Funding is available for initiatives that support communities to:

  • Come together through inclusive places, spaces and activities (either physical or virtual), especially for communities where people are least able to come together

  • Help children and young people thrive by developing positive social and emotional skills

  • Tackle health inequalities by addressing the conditions in which people live, work and grow

  • Be environmentally sustainable by engaging with climate issues, having a positive environmental impact, and improving access to quality natural spaces

Priority will be given to projects that:

  • Support places, people or communities experiencing poverty, disadvantage or discrimination

  • Support people and communities to shape the decisions that affect their lives

Grants range from £20,001 to £20 million for projects lasting up to 5 years. Most awards are under £500,000. Funding can cover a broad range of costs, including staffing, delivery expenses, community engagement and organisational development.

Eligible applicants include registered charities, voluntary groups, CIOs, CICs, schools and public bodies. Partnerships may also apply.

There is no fixed closing date; applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Decisions can take several months due to the programme's scale and demand.

The D'oyly Carte Charitable Trust

The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust has announced its latest funding round, offering grants of between £500 and £8,000 to UK-registered charities working in the performing arts, creative health and heritage crafts.

Funding is aimed at work that increases access to opportunity through:

  • Performing arts engagement, community music-making and early-stage career development

  • Creative health activity such as arts accessed through referral, short breaks for young carers, animal-assisted therapy and horticulture

  • Heritage crafts projects that protect rare skills and link training to employment, particularly for young people

Grants may support projects or organisational costs. Project budgets may include proportionate core costs. Unrestricted funding is available for charities with an annual income under £250,000.

Small charity grants are available for organisations with an annual income of up to £5 million.

Large charity grants are available for those with an annual income above £5 million. First stage applications must be submitted by 31 July 2026.

Current deadline: 2nd October 2026
