The Toy Trust Fund

Grants of up to £5,000 are available to small UK-registered children's charities to fund equipment and services to support disabled and disadvantaged children under the age of 13 across the UK. Groups that have carried out some form of effective fundraising by themselves are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Onward Community Fund

Community organisations located in Merseyside, Greater Manchester, and Lancashire can apply for grants of up to £2,500 to support projects that make a positive difference in their locality.

The funding is being made available through the Onward Community Fund. Onward is a registered provider of social housing based in the North West of England. This year, the fund is interested in supporting projects that help people and communities facing increased challenges due to the cost-of-living crisis.

In the last financial year, Onward awarded over £99,900 in funding to 61 local community organisations.

Current deadline: 7th February 2025

The Weavers' Company Grants

Registered charities, charitable incorporated organisations, and in exceptional circumstances Community Interest Companies can apply for grants for projects that support offenders and ex-offenders as well as into work and helping specific less popular groups within the criminal justice sector.

The funding is being made available through the Weavers' Company. In allocating funding, priority is given to projects that support offenders into work and projects that work with less popular groups in society. A secondary priority is given to supporting projects that work with young people from disadvantaged and socio-economically challenged groups, such as immigrants, to ensure they are given every possible chance to realise their full potential and to participate fully in society.

The Company operates two funding streams:

A Small Grants Programme that provides grant of up to £5,000

A Main Grants programme which has no maximum grant limit

The funding is available for both project and core costs. Applicants must show they have investigated other sources of funding and made plans for future funding.

Current deadline: 13th March 2025

The Strategic Legal Fund

Not for profit organisations and private law firms assisting young migrants can apply for grants from the Strategic Legal Fund (SLF) for Vulnerable Young Migrants.

These grants aim to support strategic legal work that benefits disadvantaged migrant children and young people (under 25 years old) who are living in poverty and facing significant disadvantage or discrimination due to their immigration status.

The SLF only supports strategic legal work carried out in the UK. This is defined as work where the impact is likely to go beyond an individual case, and to result in changes to law, policy and practice that will benefit a wider group of people.

The maximum grant amount is £30,000, but due to limited funding, applicants are encouraged to request lower amounts. The average grant size is approximately £12,000.

Current deadline: 27th January 2025

The Energy Efficiency Sharematch fund

Community organisations in England can apply for a share of £250,000 of funding to reduce energy usage and carbon footprint. The funding is being made available through the Energy Efficiency Sharematch fund. It can be used to install on-site energy generation measures like solar panels and heat pumps, improve building energy efficiency through insulation and LED lighting, and upgrade operational equipment to more energy-efficient alternatives.

Most grants will be £10,000-15,000, with the minimum grant being £5,000. The maximum grant is £30,000.

Next application window: 1st March 2025

The UK Government's Dormant Assets Scheme

The UK Government's Dormant Assets Scheme is set to allocate £350 million to various initiatives in England between 2024 and 2028. This funding comes from assets like bank accounts that have been inactive for many years and whose owners cannot be traced. The scheme aims to support social and environmental initiatives. The allocation of this £350 million will be evenly distributed across four primary areas:

  • Youth services and opportunities, receiving £87.5 million to enhance facilities and services for young individuals.

  • Financial inclusion, also allocated £87.5 million, to improve individuals' ability to manage finances and access financial services.

  • Social investment wholesalers, which will receive £87.5 million to facilitate investments in social enterprises.

  • Community wealth funds, receiving £87.5 million to empower local communities to improve their areas and invest in local priorities.

These funds aim to address societal issues like youth unemployment, financial exclusion, and community development, with further details on the specific allocations to be outlined in an upcoming Dormant Assets Strategy.

Buttle UK's Chances for Children Grants

Grants of up to £2,400 are available to support the needs of vulnerable children and young people (aged 2 - 18) who have experienced a recent crisis or change in life that has had a significant impact on their wellbeing and their education.

Applications will only be accepted from frontline professionals working for a registered charity, housing association or public sector organisation; including schools and colleges.

Applications can be made at any time.

Our past Funding Bulletins will also have grant opportunities that are still open!
