Open Door join the match funding campaign to support care-experienced young people across Wirral

Wirral-based mental health charity Open Door Charity will be taking part in this year's Big Give Christmas Challenge, a national matched funding campaign, and they are calling on local supporters to get involved.
The Big Give provides charities with the opportunity to double the impact of donations by securing pledges ahead of the campaign week. Open Door Charity is currently seeking pledges of up to £2,500 to build their match funding pot. Once secured, these pledges will be matched by an additional £2,500 from a trust or foundation, creating a potential fundraising total of £10,000 when the campaign goes live in December.
Supporting Wirral’s care-experienced young people
Funds raised through this year’s campaign will go towards Open Door Charity’s OOMOO summer programme in 2026, which is designed for children and young people in Wirral who have experienced the care system.
The programme provides vital support during the school holidays, a period that can often bring challenges such as isolation, poor mental health and increased risk of involvement in anti-social behaviour. Notably, 46% of OOMOO members live in Birkenhead and Wallasey, areas ranked within the top 1% of deprivation nationally, while the remaining 54% live in the top 20% most deprived areas.
The summer programme offers positive, unique opportunities that build resilience, create friendships and provide stability. All activities are free and accessible, ensuring no young person is excluded.
How you can help
By pledging support now, you can help ensure that no care-experienced young person in Wirral misses out on trauma-informed mental health support and the chance to make lasting memories.
