A series of free community meals and cultural experiences is coming to Wirral starting this October

A vibrant programme of free community meals, gardening workshops and cultural experiences will launch in Wirral this October, giving people the chance to share food, learn new skills and enjoy live entertainment together.

The Grow, Cook, Eat! project, run by Earth Moves, will host nine themed community gatherings over the next 10 months, each combining a free meal with music, workshops or performances. There will also be regular gardening workshops to help people learn how they can grow their own.

All dishes at the meals are vegetarian with vegan options available. The meals, made from locally sourced food, will also offer inspiration for low-cost recipes families can recreate at home. The sessions have been co-designed by local volunteers and the project is designed not just to provide meals, but to bring people together through culture, creativity and shared learning.

Paula Staunton, co-founder of Earth Moves explained: “Our events are about coming together as a community to grow food, create delicious meals and enjoy these together. We use culture as well as horticulture at our gardening project, bringing people together from all walks of life, to have fun and try something new. Be it an Irish stew, or a vintage high tea, there is something for everyone. So come along, meet new people, and most importantly of all, have fun!”

The project has been made possible thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund and National Lottery players, with thanks to Wirral Council.

People can book their free tickets to events via the Earth Moves Eventbrite page. Find out more about Grow, Cook, Eat! past projects, including downloading free community cookbooks at: www.earthmoves.org/grow-cook-eat.
