FestiVol is coming and the excitement is building!

Updates from the most recent Volunteer Celebration Event Planning Committee

Planning for FestiVol is officially in full swing after a brilliant and creative meeting at The Hive on Monday 15th September. Volunteer Managers from across Wirral came together for a tour of this fantastic venue, which will host our borough-wide volunteer celebration on Saturday 28th February 2026. Seeing the space helped us all imagine what activities will really bring the event to life.

Defining the true spirit of FestiVol

After the tour, we rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into some creative thinking by designing the official FestiVol logo!

With Wirral CVS’ very own creative wiz, Lewis Hall, leading the way, we explored the values and principles that matter most to our organisations and to volunteering itself. We wanted the logo to capture the true spirit of the event with something that feels:

  • Fun

  • Inclusive

  • Unique

  • Colourful

  • Welcoming

Lewis shared some inspiring examples to kickstart ideas, and then, as a group, we tweaked and adapted until we had something that really felt us. The end result? A logo that perfectly sums up what FestiVol is all about - a celebration of volunteering in Wirral.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped shape the design. We love what we’ve created together and we can’t wait to share it far and wide!

Next steps...

Lewis will now take the logo and start to create our save the date cards, invitations, and a media pack. We expect to have invitations ready so that volunteers can start to register for the events from the end of October.

Our next meeting will focus on the programme of activities at FestiVol. We’ll host this event online on Wednesday 15th October 10am - 11am. We’ll send out Teams invites to those that have said they want to be involved and can add in anyone else who wishes to participate.

We’ll be looking for suggestions on activities, contacts for people who could facilitate activities and a bit of support in pulling the programme together. It's important that we’ve considered what volunteers will want at the celebration, so please have a look at activities previously suggested and talk them through with your teams ahead of the meeting.

Feedback

If you have any thoughts following this blog or as an attendee of the recent planning meetings, please email jenpaton@wcvs.org.uk with any feedback on the plans so far! We'd like to ensure as many voices as possible are heard through the planning process to ensure a FestiVol that can be owned and enjoyed by everyone.
