FestiVol: A Day to Celebrate Wirral’s Volunteers

A day dedicated to recognising the impact of Wirral’s volunteers
ree

Wirral’s first large-scale celebration of volunteering is coming in February, and we are excited to share what will be a joyful, energetic and heartfelt day dedicated to the people who give their time to support communities across the borough.

On Saturday, 28th February 2026, volunteers, friends and families are invited to The Hive Youth Zone for FestiVol, a full day of free activities designed to recognise and celebrate the impact of volunteering in Wirral. Running from 9:30am to 4:30pm, FestiVol has been co-produced with volunteer managers from across many Wirral organisations to ensure the programme reflects the interests and needs of local volunteers.

A day shaped around three themed sessions

FestiVol is structured around three sessions, each with its own tone and activities so people can dip in and out or stay for the full day.

Morning Session – Calm and Creative: The day opens with a gentler pace. Volunteers can enjoy sound baths, mindfulness sessions, arts activities and access to the sensory room. Brunch will be available, including pastries and fruit.

Lunchtime Session – Full Festival Energy: By midday the atmosphere shifts to something livelier, with dance taster sessions, climbing wall activities and live music. A free grab-and-go lunch will be provided, with burgers and chips for attendees.

Afternoon Session – Social and Relaxed: The day closes with opportunities to unwind, try something new or simply enjoy good company. Activities include a tea dance, pottery painting, biscuit and cake decorating, bingo, hand massages, choir performances and more time on the climbing wall. Afternoon tea with sandwiches and cakes will be served.

Why FestiVol matters

FestiVol is completely free and open to all Wirral volunteers. The day is designed as a thank you for the dedication, compassion and energy that volunteers bring to every corner of the Wirral.

Gareth Prytherch, Chief Executive of Wirral CVS, shared his enthusiasm: It is so exciting to be able to bring together volunteers from across Wirral who contribute so much to our communities and say thank you! I would also like to thank the Volunteer Managers who have worked with our team to put together what looks like an incredibly exciting day with different activities and the opportunity to meet other people and other organisations.

Our member organisations, from all over Wirral, make a difference to people's lives every day and many cannot do that without the support of volunteers. I am looking forward to meeting and talking to as many of you as possible on the 28th February.

Jen Paton, Volunteer Programme Manager at Wirral CVS, added: We are so proud to be bringing Wirral its first large-scale volunteering celebration day. Volunteers are the heart of our Borough, offering kindness, time and energy in every corner of our community. I often think about how much harder the covid lockdowns would have been without people stepping up to help one another. Working with organisations across Wirral, I see every day the difference our volunteers make, and it means a great deal to us to create a day that truly celebrates everyone who gives their time to make Wirral a brighter and more connected place.”
