Community Spirit Shines at Pathways to Purpose Volunteer Recruitment Fair

A quick summary of our most recent volunteer recruitment fair

What an incredible day at the Pathways to Purpose Volunteer Recruitment Fair! Despite the blustery winds outside, the atmosphere inside was nothing short of electric, buzzing with enthusiasm, warmth and connection. More than 30 local organisations came together in Wirral to recruit volunteers, promote wellbeing and the amazing range of support available across our community, and people turned out in fantastic numbers to be part of it.

The venue was alive with friendly conversations, curiosity and positive energy. Visitors eagerly explored a wide variety of stalls, asked thoughtful questions and took confident, exciting first steps towards volunteering. Stallholders loved meeting new faces, sharing their passion and inspiring others to get involved.

A Brilliant Turnout and an Amazing Mix of Organisations

With over 30 organisations represented, the fair showcased the true strength and diversity of Wirral’s voluntary sector. Well‑known charities such as Age UK, Citizens Advice Wirral, St John Ambulance, YMCA and Claire House Children’s Hospice stood alongside smaller grassroots groups and specialist services supporting mental health, families, poverty reduction, animals and community wellbeing.

The sheer range of support on offer was a real highlight. Whether people were interested in health and wellbeing, advice services, parent and carer support, community hubs or faith‑based groups.

Fantastic Engagement All Day Long

Stalls stayed busy throughout the event, with many organisations

speaking to 20–60 visitors each. Some amazing outcomes were achieved on the day: Age UK supported 10 applications, while Hitched Communities welcomed 15 new sign‑ups. These results perfectly demonstrate just how powerful face‑to‑face events can be in helping people feel confident, inspired and ready to take that next step.

Warm Feedback and Exciting New Connections

Feedback from stallholders was overwhelmingly positive. Organisations praised the welcoming atmosphere, a warm drink and sandwich, smooth organisation and the invaluable opportunity to connect not only with potential volunteers, but with fellow organisations from across Wirral.

Comments included:

  • “Really useful event.”

  • “Another amazing event – had the best time!”

  • “Brilliantly run event – thank you!”

  • “You made us feel very welcome.”

Organisations also shared how meaningful it was to meet others face‑to‑face, sparking new ideas, fresh conversations and exciting possibilities for collaboration and partnership working in the future.

A Huge Thank You

A massive thank you to all the organisations who took part, bringing so much energy, passion and commitment to make the day such a success. You are the beating heart of Wirral’s thriving voluntary sector.

An equally big thank you to everyone who attended, especially those who braved the windy weather to come along, ask questions and explore new opportunities. Your enthusiasm and willingness to get involved are exactly what make events like this so special.
