Wirral CVS attended the opening day of Callister Gardens' brand new pavilion

Last week, the team visited the delightful Cathy Warren at Callister Gardens. We were introduced to Mary, one of the trustees, and Bernie, a garden volunteer as we were greeted into the gardens, with Bernie being one of the 30 garden volunteers at Callister Gardens.
Cathy showed us around the garden space and the brand new pavilion. This space is a must-visit, being both serene and a blend of wild and cultivated areas. It features several distinct spaces, including a lawn perfect for high tea and a hidden, lush forest school for children.
The Callister Trust, which manages the garden, was originally established to support women and girls, but it welcomes anyone who needs the well-being benefits of an outdoor space.

Various groups have already utilised the space, such as the Spider Project, Heart4Refugees, and Grow Wellbeing. The Trust is eager to increase usage by organisations, especially those seeking a regular venue for activities. With the new pavilion now complete, the space is usable even in adverse weather.
Currently, they are seeking dark pavers to continue working on the accessible pathways and any pairs of Crocs in good condition for their volunteer gardeners needing to get out of muddy shoes.
Callister Gardens were one of the recipients of the Community Green Grants, which helped fund the construction of the pavilion. We were delighted to see the green grants fund go to amazing projects such as the pavilion and other environmentally beneficial projects and charities across the Wirral, and will soon post more about the successes of the Community Green Grants on our website.
An Open Day is scheduled for Saturday, July 26th, so save the date in your diary.
