Phoenix Packs: Dignity In Every Journey
Inspired by the personal experiences of foster carers, youth workers and young people, the Phoenix Packs Project was created to support children/ young people who are :
Entering an emergency placement.
Moving between placements.
Returning home or transitioning out of care.
In need of replacing lost or outgrown essentials.
Phoenix Packs are high-quality backpacks filled with essentials, comfort, and care. Each pack acts as a symbol of hope and a reminder that even in times of change, each child/young person should be treated with compassion- Because every child deserves more than a bin bag!
Each Phoenix Pack is hand-picked and bespoke to the individual child (from birth to 16+), ensuring their specific needs and interests are met. A typical pack includes:
The Essentials: New pyjamas, three full outfits, a warm coat or jacket, and new underwear and socks.
Dignity & Care: A personal backpack or sports bag (never a bin bag), fresh toiletries, hair essentials, and sensory items.
Comfort & Connection: A snuggly blanket, a soft toy to cuddle, and a storybook or age-appropriate book.
Joy & Expression: A game or toy, craft activities, notebooks, and pens to help them express their feelings and find a moment of play.
