Free resources and training in honour of Small Charities Week (23rd - 27th June)

Small Charity Week is a campaign that amplifies and supports the amazing work of small charities across the UK

Small Charity Week (24–28 June 2025) is a national campaign designed to champion the critical work of small charities and community groups across the UK. With 96% of charities in England and Wales operating on incomes below £1 million, this dedicated week recognises the value, voice and resilience of smaller organisations – including those making a real difference here on the Wirral.

At Wirral CVS, we know how important it is for local groups to access free, practical support that helps them strengthen their governance, sustain funding and grow their impact. In the spirit of Small Charity Week, we’ve rounded up some of the free training sessions, tools and resources available to the sector below.

NCVO Free Webinars and Resources

The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) is offering a suite of free events during Small Charity Week. Sarah Elliott, CEO of NCVO said:

“Small charities are the beating heart of our sector and the communities they serve. But many are now under extraordinary pressure. Costs are rising, income is falling, and demand for their support is soaring. This year, Small Charity Week shines a spotlight on financial resilience. It’s a moment to celebrate the impact of small charities, highlight the challenges they face, and call for the recognition, funding and policy change they urgently need.”

Small Charity Week's Website

Small Charity Week themselves have a host of resources to celebrate this week on their website, including press releases, social media graphics and more information on the week.

A summary of resources for this week is also available from UK Fundraising, which includes more details about the support on offer from organisations like NCVO and Charity Excellence.

Free Charity training from Charity Excellence

Charity Excellence are providing free training webinars on their website. About the webinars, Charity Excellence have said:

"Our #SmallsForSmalls 2 dozen free charity training webinars and face-to-face sessions will run 23 to 27 June but aren't part of the formal Small Charity Week programme. They are an unfunded, ad hoc series of informative and fun fringe events organised by the smalls themselves, with support from their friends, to help and promote the fantastic work of all small charities. All small charities are invited but anyone and everyone is welcome."
