You are here: What Does WCVS Do?

WCVS provides the following services and resources:

  • Office Services - In both our Stranraer and Newton Stewart offices we offer a range administration and support services: colour photocopying, production of newsletters, posters, leaflets, adverts, booklets, desk top publishing CVs.

We hold considerable information on voluntary groups in Wigtownshire.

  • Funding Advice, Legal Structures and Training - We assist WCVS members with grant applications from a wide variety of sources. We can assist members to initiate individual projects and prepare budgets in order to attract support. We can also provide a range of capacity-building training for community groups on legal structures/constitutions, committee skills, managing grants, monitoring and evaluation and basic budget/accounts.
  • Events and Marketing - We assist voluntary and community organisations throughout Wigtownshire with the organisation and marketing of events as a means of fundraising and profile raising.

The following organisations are based in our Stranraer office

  • The Food Train - This valuable service operates from our Stranraer Office providing a grocery shopping home delivery service for the elderly, housebound and disabled people, across Dumfries and Galloway.
  • Wigtownshire Coalition for Disabled People - this is a region wide forum whose main function is to work for the needs of disabled people
