Project Work
WCVS is directly involved in the following projects:-

Wigtown Local Rural Partnership
Funded directly by the Scottish Executive, WCVS is mandated to manage the funds of the Local Rural Partnership (LRP), and currently chairs the Steering Committee, which comprises partners drawn from the Dumfries and Galloway Community Planning Strategic Change Group, being principally Community Planning, Scottish Enterprise Dumfries and Galloway (SEDG), Wigtown Local Health Care Co-operative, Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary, the Community Resources Department of Dumfries and Galloway Council (DGC) and the Federation of Community Councils. DGC and SEDG provide in-kind match funding for this project.

This Steering Group has developed a broader Local Rural Partnership comprising over 30 local and regional groups, whose chair is Russell Brown MP. The LRP meets a minimum of 4 times per year and held its first meeting on 1st Dec 2001. The aim of the LRP is to develop systems which ensure that planning is directly related to local views. Annandale & Eskdale Council of Voluntary Service (AECVS) is mandated to deliver a capacity building programme within the local voluntary and community sector which will ensure representation, share best practice and capitalise on local resources and expertise.

The main pillars of the LRP are that the work takes place within the 3 main themes of Community Planning, which are Social Inclusion, Safe and Healthy Community, and Learning Communities.
